How to Choose the Best Golf Push Cart

This guide will highlight everything you should consider when purchasing the best golf push cart for you, making it easier to come to your decision.

Size + Weight

It doesn’t really matter how big the cart is when it’s unfolded – in my opinion, the bigger the better because it can store more.

When it’s folded, you probably want it to be smaller. You want it to fit in the trunk of your car, or you want it to be portable enough to bring it on public transport with you.

Most carts when folded can measure around 25 x 30 x 15. This is a larger size, and there are smaller options available.

The weight is also a factor you must consider before purchasing a golf cart.
The more lightweight the cart is, the easier it is to push. Aluminum is one of the lighter metals that a cart is made from, and steel is one of the heavier ones.

Not necessarily true in all circumstances, but a lot of the time the more lightweight it is, the less stable it is. Other factors come into this though, such as how many wheels it has.

Wheels

Wheels are arguably the most important part of a pushcart. Without wheels, it’s just a frame you need to carry around with you.

The best golf push carts will have wheels with a textured pattern or an anti-skid design. If you’re playing in wet weather, the last thing you need is your card to slide down a hill or away from you.

For extra stability, you might want to consider a cart that’s wheels are far apart. The further apart the wheels are, the more balanced the cart is.

Although larger wheels usually weigh a bit more, they will ensure you’ll cover more distance with less effort. Larger wheels also enable you to push the cart on uneven or rugged terrain with little to no difficulty.

3 OR 4 WHEEL?

You also need to decide between a 3-wheel design or a 4-wheel design.
3-wheelers tend to come in a V-shape, ensuring an easier and smoother push. The 1 wheel at the front means turns will be quicker and easier.

The downside to 3-wheelers is that they can often become top-heavy and it doesn’t balance as well as 4-wheelers.

Carts with 4 wheels offer extra stability. 2 on the front and 2 on the back – a nice and simple design makes sure the weight of the equipment is distributed evenly.

The downside to 4-wheelers is that they are noticeably harder to maneuver. A little more effort is required to make turns, as both of the front wheels need to sync

Features

Holders

You may want to consider if your golf cart is equipped to carry what you need it to. If you’re bringing a GPS device, a phone and a cup of coffee on the course with you, you want it to have a device holder and a cup holder.

Other holders you may want it to include are ball holders, glove holders, and scorecard holders.

Most on the market do have scorecard holders, but it’s important to check what features you want it to have before you purchase anything.

Brake

The better the brake, the better the cart. If the brake slips, then your golf cart will get away from you.
The brake should also be easily accessible. If you have to spend ages trying to locate the break before you can continue your game, you’ll be wasting valuable seconds.

Mesh net

You may want a cart equipped with a mesh net if you carry smaller items with you. Tiny gears can usually get lost without a mesh net, so consider this before making your decision.

Recap

There are plenty of great golf push carts available to buy on the market, but the one that we’ve branded our favorite is the Bag Boy Quad XL Golf Cart.

This cart is extra stable with 4-wheels, ensuring that it won’t topple over at all.

There are also some great features included with this cart. The cart is equipped with a scorecard console, which is perfect for keeping track of who’s winning. Not so perfect if you’re losing though.

There’s plenty of storage room in this cart, with room for a drinks holder, golf balls, and even a mobile phone holder.

One of the main things that make this our favorite is how easy it is to fold up, and how compact it is. This is essential with carts as they need to be stored – you don’t want it taking up your whole boot, do you?
