TaylorMade M6 Driver Product Review

TaylorMade explains the M6 driver by saying “Speed Injected Twist Face delivers a hot, yet accurate performance package in the new M6 driver. When you combine that with added clubhead speed through advanced aerodynamics, the result is a complete driver that delivers on all fronts.”

What is Speed Injection? During the build process, each driver is individually tested and injected with tuning resin. This procedure maximizes ball speed at or near the legal limit for a driver.

Twist Face is a new design (face curvature) to provide forgiveness for off-center shots. This allows shots that aren’t struck perfectly to spin less and stay online.

The TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc) also contains an “Inertia Generator” – 46 grams of weight stored low and back in the club to provide even more forgiveness.

And finally, this driver is built with the Hammerhead 2.0 – not a shark, this slot on the sole of the club creates a larger sweet spot and delivers more speed on mis-hit shots.

You put all this technology together and you get a long, accurate driver that protects the player from off-center shots. This driver is so stable, that it can be challenging to tell the difference between a mis-hit and a perfect swing.

Like most premium drivers on the market, the TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc) gives you plenty of choices.

It is offered with three different lofts – 9, 10.5, or 12 degrees. You can also tweak these lofts (more details below).

You have two stock shaft options as well – Fujikura Atmos Orange 5 or Fujikura Atmos Black 6. This gives you the ability the choose the shaft weight and flex that best fits your swing.

The TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc) comes with the Loft Sleeve that allows you to leverage the adjustment tool (wrench) to alter loft, lie, and face angle. In total, you have 12 different settings to fine-tune your ball flight.

While this can be a bit complicated, TaylorMade has a Tuning Manual online that will help you make the right decision.

The stock grip for this drive is the TM Dual Feel in the Black/Blood Orange color.

The TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc) does come with a headcover and the adjustment tool. TaylorMade recommends you only leverage their wrench to make changes to your club.

Summary

TaylorMade uses Speed-injection and Twist Face technology to build a driver that not only delivers speed to all golfers but protects them from bad swings (mis-hits).

The only potential downside to this driver is that it can be difficult to feel the difference between good and bad shots, but if the ball still travels long and straight, do you care?

The TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc) is a great option for players looking to improve both distance and consistency.

The flexibility of the driver is tremendous – you will have to choose the loft you purchase (9, 10.5,12), but with the 12 setting options using the Loft Sleeve, you can find the perfect setup for your unique swing.

Step to the first tee with confidence. Grip it and Rip it! Let the Big Dog eat.

Have you played with the TaylorMade M6 Driver (460cc)? Has it made a positive impact on your scores?
